Parenting is one of the most important and most difficult jobs there is. Many parents seek parenting support not because they are failing, but because they care deeply about their child and want to better understand how to support them.

Parents often express feeling overwhelmed, guilty, and inadequate.

They describe feeling isolated and as though there is no one to talk to about their struggles. Parenting can feel confusing, exhausting, and lonely, especially when your child is struggling emotionally or behaviorally and nothing you try seems to work.

We are here to tell you: you are not alone.

Parents need validation of their experience, support in implementing parenting strategies, and help understanding their children’s behaviors. Many parents seek support feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or unsure of what to do next, especially when their child is struggling emotionally, behaviorally, socially, or at school.

Parent coaching provides a space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your home without judgment. Together, we work to better understand your child, reduce behavior challenges, improve communication, and strengthen your relationship with your child.

Parent Coaching Can Help With…

“As children develop, their brains “mirror” their parent’s brain. In other words, the parent’s own growth and development, or lack of those, impact the child’s brain. as parents become more aware and emotionally healthy, their children reap the rewards and move towards health as well.”

~ Dr. Daniel J. Siegel

What Happens in Parent Support Sessions?

parent coaching in Wheat Ridge Colorado serving Denver area

Parent sessions focus on supporting you as the parent while also supporting your child and your family system as a whole. In parent coaching, we talk through what is happening at home, what behaviors you are seeing, what strategies you have tried, and what feels most difficult right now.

We work together to understand the meaning behind your child’s behavior, develop practical strategies for responding to difficult moments, and strengthen the parent-child relationship. Parent sessions often includes education about child development, emotional regulation, attachment, behavior strategies, and communication tools.

Parent support is not about blaming parents or telling you that you are doing something wrong. It is about supporting you, helping you feel more confident, and giving you tools that actually work for your child and your family.

Some families participate in parent coaching while their child is in therapy, and other families participate in parent sessions without their child being in therapy. Recommendations about child involvement, family sessions, or individual therapy will be discussed during intake and throughout services if clinically appropriate.

Not sure whether parent coaching is the right fit?

Parent coaching can be helpful on its own or alongside other services such as play therapy, child therapy, teen therapy, trauma therapy, EMDR therapy, or cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). We are happy to help you identify the most appropriate support for your child and family.
